Is there anything brighter than the first light of day in Edoras?
The people wonder, then shake their heads. There is nothing that can compare. Setting off to work in the beautiful brightness, and even the horses seem calmer now. It seems all is finally well, here, in the city that used to mourn. They think no shadow can touch them; last month's war is forgotten. Their king is young and strong; he will protect them from memories. Sitting in his uncle's throne, Éomer cannot afford his people's luxury. Alone in the darkened hall, he bears the burden of kings. |
